Job Description:

The Commercial Activity Leader ensures vitality in IKEA stores and media by optimizing campaigns and activities to increase traffic. They use market knowledge to enhance the shopping experience, coordinate national campaigns, and drive commercial performance through strategic planning and analysis.

Job Responsibility:

  • Ensure vitality in our stores and all media by working closely across the commercial team to inspire visitation and engagement
  • Optimise campaigns, activities, and the commercial calendar to increase store and online traffic
  • Use knowledge of the local market and competitors to secure a relevant range mix that maximises competitive advantage and broadens our customer base
  • Present the IKEA range to reflect its width and depth, inspiring and satisfying the diverse tastes of our visitors
  • View the store through the eyes of the customer and provide constructive feedback to improve the shopping experience
  • Lead and evaluate the commercial planning process, influencing selling units to maximise opportunities and grow sales
  • Apply deep knowledge of the IKEA range, national priorities, volume commitments, and market conditions to contribute to the business plan and commercial calendar
  • Proactively coordinate national campaigns and high-potential activities, including market-specific initiatives, ensuring availability and clear communication
  • Secure volumes in line with IKEA business rules by collaborating closely with logistics and supply functions
  • Identify and develop new commercial potential through engaging activities, events, and campaigns
  • Analyse activity performance to identify successful initiatives and use insights to improve future planning
  • Collaborate with colleagues and matrix partners to share learnings and best practices across the region
  • Support stores in executing the commercial calendar, monitoring sales, stock availability, and addressing deviations
  • Communicate the commercial calendar in a motivating way that encourages ownership and accountability
  • Foster a culture of trust through open, honest, and constructive two-way feedback with colleagues
  • Visit stores regularly to coach commercial activity leaders, identify opportunities, and align on goals and follow-ups
  • Take responsibility for personal development and seek support from managers and matrix partners to grow competencies
  • Monitor and analyse commercial activities and KPIs to guide store leaders toward achieving sales and profitability targets
  • Drive commercial performance through short- and long-term action plans that support sustainable growth
  • Set and deliver national goals for sales, gross margin, store visitors, and other KPIs, while supporting price deviation actions
  • Optimise commercial opportunities for outgoing products and overstock to minimise price reductions
  • Control costs by working in a lean, simple, and cost-conscious way, encouraging continuous improvement

Requirements:

  • Strong knowledge of market trends, customer needs & desires as well as insights from consumers’ life at home
  • Deep understanding of the commercial drivers when planning commercial activities & events
  • Project management skills and how to plan, monitor, evaluate and improve processes
  • Experience of using consumer insights to drive business actions
  • Strong understanding of the drivers for an excellent customer shopping experience
  • Developing strategies to deliver to long term business goals
  • Strong analytical skills to draw insights and feed this into business decisions
  • Proven experience of commercial flair, history of a strong commercial performance working through a team
  • Knowledge of macro-environment conditions and how to capitalise or adapt based on these
  • Experience of a management role in an IKEA Store
