Job Responsibility:

  • Operate all types of equipment to perform safety functions including manual transmission and chaining tires
  • safely operate tractor/trailer in compliance with Company, Federal, State, and Local laws and FMCSA regulations
  • adhere to all FMCSA requirements for commercial drivers
  • maintain records for regulatory compliance
  • comply with safe and legal hazardous materials transportation
  • ensure security of equipment and cargo
  • conduct pre-trip and post-trip inspections
  • monitor gauges and vehicle conditions during trips
  • report maintenance problems promptly
  • verify unit numbers against paperwork
  • use in-cab technology including electronic logs
  • drive different schedules and work dock based on business needs
  • run over-the-road as approved by Safety
  • provide professional and courteous customer service
  • assist with local pick-up and delivery, hub/regional runs, and dock work including loading/unloading freight
  • maintain regular attendance
  • perform other duties as assigned

Requirements:

  • High school diploma or GED
  • 21 years of age
  • minimum one year driving experience
  • valid Class A commercial driver's license
  • registration with FMCSA Drug and Alcohol Clearinghouse
  • residence within 75 miles of terminal
  • Hazmat, Tanker, and Doubles endorsements
  • ability to drive tractor-trailer complying with FMCSA hours-of-service
  • stable employment history preferred
  • forklift operation skills
  • ability to lift and move minimum 70 lbs
  • physical capability for standing, twisting, climbing, and other manual tasks
  • able to drop/hook/couple trailers requiring 65 lbs pressure
  • acceptable MVR
  • familiarity with state motor vehicle laws and FMCSA regulations
  • pass FMCSA medical exam
  • pass road test
  • English language proficiency
  • pass pre-employment drug screen and criminal background check
  • authorized to work in the US
  • compliance with company policies and Code of Conduct
  • ability to work independently and in teams
  • able to work under tight deadlines
  • strong comprehension and concentration skills
  • good communication abilities
