Job Description:

The Herald & Times Print Centre currently produces our highly successful newspaper titles: The Herald, and Glasgow Times, together with a huge volume of contract titles. Due to continued growth and expansion, we are seeking to recruit a key individual for our pressroom team. The position requires good team working and flexibility, with the ability to adapt to changing priorities. A willingness to work on a rotational shift pattern is essential, as is a good awareness and understanding of Health and Safety responsibilities. Reporting to the Presshall Shift Manager’s, the key focus of this role will be to ensure that daily/nightly printing output meets production deadlines, targets and quality expectations.

Job Responsibility:

  • Ensure that daily/nightly printing output meets production deadlines, targets and quality expectations
  • Operate within a pressroom team environment, demonstrating good team working and flexibility
  • Adapt to changing priorities within a fast-paced production setting
  • Maintain high awareness and understanding of Health and Safety responsibilities
  • Work as part of a rotational shift pattern

Requirements:

  • A recognised apprenticeship and qualification in printing
  • Experience of 4 colour web offset printing
  • Experience operating state of the art KBA Colora presses
  • A fundamental knowledge of quality images
  • Experience of setting 4 colour and mono to specified densities and optimum quality
  • The ability to work under pressure and an understanding of the time‑critical nature of newspaper production
  • A detailed working knowledge and understanding of colour printing processes is essential
  • Good team working and flexibility
  • Ability to adapt to changing priorities
  • Willingness to work on a rotational shift pattern
  • A good awareness and understanding of Health and Safety responsibilities

Consideration will also be given to quality Sheet‑fed printers
