Job Description

As a Collections Supervisor at FCC Environment, you will be responsible for the safety of staff and site visitors, ensuring operational efficiency, maintaining service quality, and minimising environmental impact. You will lead and support teams delivering refuse and recycling collections across the borough, ensuring compliance with legislation and meeting customer expectations.

Job Responsibility

  • Ensuring the health & safety of all personnel and visitors
  • Implementing the company SHEQ Policy
  • Conducting risk assessments, aspects and impacts analyses
  • Providing written safe working instructions
  • Ensuring compliance with accident/incident reporting procedures
  • Verifying staff competence, training and valid licences
  • Leading investigations and disciplinary procedures where required
  • Supervising and coordinating collection operations
  • Monitoring health, safety, quality and performance across the borough
  • Conducting staff training, inductions and safety briefings
  • Liaising with councils, contractors and key stakeholders
  • Promoting recycling, efficiency and continuous improvement
  • Using systems such as Asset Go, CMS and Microsoft Office for reporting and audits
  • Travelling between sites as needed

Requirements

  • Previous supervisory experience (waste, logistics or environmental services desirable)
  • Strong leadership and people management skills
  • Proactive, safety-focused attitude
  • Excellent communication and organisation skills
  • IT competent (Microsoft Office, CMS, Safeguard)
  • Clean driving licence (LGV and CPC advantageous)
  • Knowledge of local geography
  • Professional, reliable and self-motivated
  • Flexible with working hours (some on-call expected)
