Job Description:

A local company is seeking a detail-oriented and results-driven Collections Specialists to join their team. In this role, you will be responsible for managing outstanding accounts receivable, contacting customers regarding past-due balances, resolving billing issues, and supporting cash flow goals. The ideal candidate will have strong communication skills, a customer-service mindset, and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.

Job Responsibility:

  • Monitor accounts to identify overdue payments
  • Contact customers by phone, email, and written correspondence to collect outstanding balances
  • Investigate and resolve billing discrepancies and payment issues
  • Maintain accurate records of collection activity and customer communications
  • Negotiate payment arrangements in accordance with company policies
  • Collaborate with internal teams, including accounting, billing, and customer service, to resolve account issues
  • Prepare aging reports and provide updates on collection status
  • Escalate delinquent accounts when appropriate
  • Support month-end reporting and accounts receivable reconciliation efforts

Requirements:

  • 2+ years of collections, accounts receivable, or related accounting experience
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to manage sensitive conversations professionally and effectively
  • High attention to detail and strong organizational skills
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and accounting or ERP systems
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines
  • Associate or bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or related field preferred

Nice to have:

  • Experience in business-to-business (B2B) collections
  • Knowledge of invoicing, cash applications, and accounts receivable processes
  • Strong problem-solving and negotiation skills
  • Experience working with customer payment portals and financial systems
