Job Description:

We are looking for a Collections Specialist to join a wholesale distribution team in Lexington, Kentucky on a Contract to permanent basis. This position is ideal for someone who can balance strong relationship management with confident account resolution across commercial customers. The role calls for strong communication skills, sound judgment, and the ability to support customer service needs while ensuring past-due accounts are addressed effectively.

Job Responsibility:

  • Manage a portfolio of commercial accounts and follow up on outstanding balances in a timely, consistent manner
  • Communicate with customers by phone and email to resolve payment issues, clarify account status, and secure payment commitments
  • Maintain positive customer relationships while applying firm and consistent collection practices
  • Review account aging and prioritize collection efforts based on risk, balance, and payment history
  • Document collection activity, customer interactions, and payment arrangements accurately within internal records
  • Partner with internal teams to investigate billing questions and help remove barriers to payment
  • Monitor promised payments and take appropriate follow-up action when commitments are not met

Requirements:

  • Prior experience in collections, with a focus on commercial account management
  • Ability to handle customer-facing conversations with professionalism while driving payment resolution
  • Working knowledge of standard collection practices, account follow-up, and payment negotiation
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Organized approach to managing multiple accounts and deadlines
  • Comfortable reviewing account details and maintaining accurate documentation
  • Background in customer service with the ability to balance service and collections responsibilities
