We are looking for a detail-oriented Collections Specialist to join our team in Minnesota in a contract capacity with the potential for a permanent role. This position supports mortgage and consumer collection activities through account follow-up, delinquency review, documentation handling, and compliance-focused communication. The ideal candidate brings strong organizational skills, sound judgment, and the ability to manage sensitive financial information while delivering accurate and timely support.
Job Responsibility:
Conduct outbound outreach to customers based on delinquency and account status reports to help resolve past-due balances
Review accounts to identify appropriate collection or loss mitigation next steps and document activity with accuracy
Prepare and send required notices, letters, and supporting documentation in accordance with internal procedures and regulatory expectations
Maintain complete and up-to-date records of collection efforts, delinquency status, and account-level actions
Communicate with investors, insurers, and other external partners regarding loan status, workout activity, foreclosure alternatives, bankruptcy matters, and related collection issues
Assist with modification request processing and ensure reporting is completed correctly for applicable loan programs
Compile delinquency and portfolio reports for leadership, investors, and other stakeholders as needed
Support training efforts for new or existing team members and contribute to the achievement of departmental performance goals
Stay informed on consumer protection requirements, mortgage servicing standards, and company policies while safeguarding confidential information
Requirements:
Knowledge of mortgage lending and collections practices, including applicable federal and state regulatory requirements
Experience handling consumer or commercial collections, account reconciliation, or related credit and billing collection activities
Proficiency with Microsoft Office and the ability to learn and navigate loan servicing or mortgage software effectively
Strong written and verbal communication skills for reporting, correspondence preparation, and attentive interactions
Ability to analyze account issues, gather relevant information, and make sound decisions based on documented facts
Familiarity with compliance resources such as AllRegs and awareness of investor or agency guideline requirements
Capability to work scheduled business hours and attend off-site meetings or assignments when necessary
Experience with mortgage servicing and workout platforms is preferred, including tools used for loan tracking, investor connectivity, and loss mitigation support
