We are looking for a Collections Specialist to join a team in El Paso, Texas for a Contract position. This opportunity is well suited for someone starting a career in collections or customer service and offers hands-on training in mortgage servicing support. You will work in a fully onsite setting, helping borrowers navigate payment challenges while maintaining accurate records and following required guidelines.
Job Responsibility:
Communicate with borrowers to discuss past-due mortgage payments and identify practical repayment options
Prepare and distribute required borrower correspondence in accordance with investor timelines and servicing standards
Review customer financial circumstances and suggest appropriate loss mitigation solutions when eligibility is established
Handle collection activities in compliance with debt collection regulations, privacy requirements, and company procedures
Use research tools and skip tracing methods to locate customers when contact information is outdated or incomplete
Record all collection conversations, follow-up actions, and account updates in the appropriate systems
Coordinate property inspection requests and track condition-related information as part of account management
Maintain organized files, support monthly reporting, and complete administrative tasks such as scanning, filing, and document handling
Requirements:
Entry-level experience in collections, customer service, accounts receivable, or a related support function is helpful
Ability to communicate professionally with customers by phone while managing sensitive financial conversations
Familiarity with collection workflows, billing support, or inbound call handling is preferred
Comfort using business systems such as CRM platforms, accounting software, or financial services applications
Strong attention to detail with the ability to document activity accurately and keep records current
Working knowledge of consumer privacy expectations and regulated collection practices is preferred
Ability to stay organized, manage follow-up tasks, and work effectively in a fully onsite environment
