We are looking for a detail-oriented Collections Specialist to support a manufacturing organization in Minnetonka, Minnesota on a Contract basis. In this role, you will oversee customer accounts, help reduce overdue receivables, and contribute to a healthy cash flow while preserving strong client relationships. The position requires sound judgment, strong follow-through, and the ability to work across teams to address payment issues, account questions, and credit-related matters.
Job Responsibility
Manage a portfolio of customer accounts and take timely action to lower outstanding balances through consistent, thorough follow-up
Research payment issues, billing variances, and disputed items, then drive resolutions that clear barriers to collection
Reconcile account activity by reviewing invoices, remittances, credits, and unapplied payments to confirm accurate balances
Partner with teams such as Sales, Customer Care, and Finance to resolve problems that affect invoicing, payments, or order release
Evaluate held orders and determine appropriate next steps based on account standing, risk exposure, and customer payment commitments
Maintain and update customer credit availability within approved guidelines and company policy
Monitor aging trends, payment behavior, and account activity to identify elevated risk and escalate concerns when needed
Document collection efforts, account updates, and customer communications thoroughly to support visibility and compliance
Contribute ideas that improve collections workflows, dispute handling, and overall order-to-cash efficiency
Requirements
3+ years of experience in commercial collections, accounts receivable, or credit and collections
Working knowledge of collection processes, billing follow-up, and management of aging accounts
Experience reviewing aging reports and taking action on late or partially paid invoices
Ability to reconcile account balances and resolve disputes with accuracy and urgency
Familiarity with establishing or maintaining customer credit lines within defined limits
Strong communication skills with the ability to handle customer interactions professionally and effectively
High attention to detail, solid organizational skills, and the ability to manage multiple accounts at once
