Our client is looking for an experienced Collections Manager to lead our collections team and oversee the recovery of outstanding accounts receivable. This role focuses on optimizing collection strategies, ensuring compliance with regulations, and fostering collaboration across departments to resolve disputes efficiently. The ideal candidate will bring strong leadership skills, deep industry knowledge, and a commitment to improving processes and achieving financial goals.
Job Responsibility:
Manage and supervise the collections team, including recruiting, training, and conducting performance evaluations
Design and implement effective strategies to enhance collection rates and streamline processes
Analyze accounts receivable aging reports to prioritize and direct collection efforts
Collaborate with internal departments such as sales, legal, and customer service to address payment disputes and ensure resolutions
Prepare detailed reports on collection performance, trends in delinquency, and cash flow projections
Ensure all collection activities align with legal standards and company policies, including adherence to the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act
Evaluate accounts for escalation, legal action, or write-off when necessary
Identify opportunities for system and process improvements to increase operational efficiency
Monitor team performance and provide coaching to maintain high standards and achieve departmental goals
Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or a related field
5+ years of experience in collections or accounts receivable, with at least 2 years in a leadership role
Comprehensive knowledge of collection laws and industry best practices
Exceptional communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills
Proficiency in systems such as Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel
Strong analytical skills and the ability to solve complex problems effectively
Proven ability to manage deadlines and perform under pressure
Nice to have:
Experience in the utilities or waste management industry is preferred but not required
