Job Responsibility:
Develop, enhance, and maintain COBOL-based applications in alignment with customer requirements and industry best practices
Collaborate with business analysts and other developers to translate functional requirements into robust technical solutions
Conduct detailed code reviews and debugging, ensuring the highest level of quality and reliability
Identify and resolve issues within existing COBOL programs to improve performance and user experience
Document new and updated processes, workflows, and system changes with clarity and precision
Participate actively in team meetings, providing technical insights and progress updates
Contribute to the continuous improvement of software development processes and standards within the team
Requirements:
Minimum 5+ years of hands-on experience in COBOL development within enterprise environments
Strong knowledge of COBOL programming, including structured coding and debugging techniques
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to convey complex technical information to diverse audiences
Proficiency in documenting technical information and system processes in a clear, concise manner
Demonstrated ability to work effectively within a remote, cross-functional team
Keen attention to detail and a proactive approach to problem-solving
Self-motivated with a strong sense of ownership in delivering quality solutions
Nice to have:
Experience with mainframe environments and legacy systems integration
Familiarity with financial services, insurance, or similar verticals relying on COBOL-based infrastructure
