Requirements:

  • Academic background in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Systems, or related field
  • Proven experience in software development using COBOL in professional environments
  • Proficiency in COBOL programming language, including fundamental concepts, control structures, file manipulation, and database interaction
  • Familiarity with mainframe environments, including operating systems such as z/OS, z/VM, and database management systems like DB2
  • Experience in integrating COBOL-based legacy systems with modern systems, using integration technologies such as APIs, messaging, or web services
  • Ability to maintain, debug, and modernize legacy systems written in COBOL, preserving existing functionality and introducing enhancements as needed
  • Capacity to identify and resolve complex issues in COBOL systems, including logic errors, performance problems, and integration with other parts of the system
  • Willingness to learn new technologies and development methods, as well as adapt to changes in project requirements and technology stack
