Job Description

We are hiring an experienced CNC Machinist to join our manufacturing team. In this role, you will set up and run CNC mills and lathes to make high-quality metal parts.

Job Responsibility

  • Maintain safe operations at all times and follow company QHSE standards and practices
  • Study work orders, blueprints, engineering plans, specifications, and machining parameters
  • Interpret geometric dimensions and tolerances
  • Program mills and lathes by entering instructions, including zero and reference points, tool registers, offsets, compensations, and conditional switches
  • Calculate machining requirements using basic math, geometry, and trigonometry
  • Set up mills and lathes by installing and adjusting 3-jaw and 4-jaw chucks, tools, attachments, collets, bushings, cams, gears, stops, and stock pushers
  • Load machines by lifting stock into position
  • Verify settings by measuring first-run parts and sample work pieces
  • Deburr final machined pieces as needed
  • Observe machine operations, detect malfunctions, and troubleshoot processes
  • Complete production and quality logs, including quality forms and daily product sheets
  • Operate lifting devices such as overhead cranes
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work environment
  • Assist with preventative maintenance on machinery
  • Participate in continuous improvement initiatives as directed by management

Requirements

  • Minimum 3 years of machinist experience
  • 2–3 years of CNC mill and/or lathe setup experience
  • Knowledge of Okuma G-Code and Fanuc operational systems
  • Strong knowledge of machine tooling
  • Ability to accurately interpret work orders, sketches, blueprints, and verbal instructions
  • Strong knowledge of measuring tools, including calipers, OD/ID micrometers, height gauges, thread wires, and thread gauges
  • Ability to troubleshoot, detect abnormal running conditions, and maintain high-quality standards
  • Able to lift and move materials up to 30–50 lbs and stand for extended periods
  • Strong communication skills and ability to work as part of a team
  • Steel-toed safety boots required
  • Must drive your own car/vehicle to get to work
  • Must be ready to start working right away
  • Proven experience setting up and running CNC mills or lathes in a machine shop
  • Ability to read and understand complex blueprints and work orders
  • Skill in using precision measuring tools (calipers, micrometers, indicators)
  • A basic understanding of G-code to read and adjust machine programs
  • A reliable worker who can work fast with little supervision and start immediately

  • CNC certificate is considered an asset
  • CNC programming experience is considered an asset
  • Knowledge of ISO and API is considered an asset
