Job Description:

This is a full-time permanent CNC Machinist opportunity in Oakville, Ontario, offering a competitive pay rate between $35 and $37 per hour. This role involves operating 4 and 5 axis CNC mills, and multi-axis lathes within the nuclear manufacturing industry, focusing on high-precision parts.

Job Responsibility:

  • Operate and oversee multiple advanced CNC machines, specifically 4- and 5-axis CNC mills and multi-axis lathes, to perform high-precision machining
  • Manufacture and refurbish critical components for the nuclear industry, such as end fittings and liners, ensuring parts meet stringent regulatory and quality standards, often requiring tolerances less than 0.0005′′
  • Set up, troubleshoot, and operate various CNC equipment, including common systems like Mazak, Puma 600 & 700, Samsung (SMEC), Okuma, Mori Seiki, and Nakamura-Tome
  • Read and interpret technical drawings to precisely set up and verify machined parts, applying expertise in GD&T principles
  • Collaborate with the extensive Quality Team and Engineering staff to conduct program proof-outs, troubleshoot issues, and finalize manufacturing process instructions
  • Execute basic machine preventative maintenance functions, such as checking fluids (coolants and lubricants) and changing filters, to ensure continued optimal performance of the equipment

Requirements:

  • Demonstrated professional history of 5+ years of experience as a CNC Machinist, or 3+ years of experience specifically within a highly regulated environment like the aerospace or nuclear sectors
  • Proficiency in operating and setting up advanced 4-axis and 5-axis CNC Mills, Lathes, and Mill-Turn equipment
  • Proven ability to accurately read and interpret complex engineering component drawings with a strong foundational understanding of metrology and GD&T
  • Experience using various lifting devices, including Overhead Cranes and possessing a Forklift License, is considered a valuable asset for this role due to the heavy components handled
  • An educational background in manufacturing or a CNC Machinist Certificate of Qualification is an asset, but practical experience will be the primary evaluation factor
  • Successful completion of a comprehensive background check is mandatory, which includes a criminal record check, public safety verification, and five years of verifiable employment history

Nice to have:

  • Experience using various lifting devices, including Overhead Cranes and possessing a Forklift License
  • An educational background in manufacturing or a CNC Machinist Certificate of Qualification
What we offer:
  • Comprehensive medical and dental coverage starting on day one
  • Strong RRSP match
  • 5% shift premium for afternoon work
  • History of annual compensation increases every April
  • Work a 4x10 hour shift (Monday-Thursday, starting at 6:00 AM or 4:15 PM) and receive a 5% shift premium for the afternoon schedule
  • Alternatively, choose the weekend 3x12 hour shift (Friday-Sunday, starting at 6:00 AM or 6:00 PM), where you are paid for 40 hours plus a premium for only 36 hours worked
  • Receive full medical, dental, and a Healthcare Spending Account (HSA) coverage from your very first day of employment
  • Benefit from a 100% employer match on your RRSP contributions, up to 4%, with enrollment starting immediately
  • Start with two weeks of vacation, with the possibility of being granted three weeks for highly experienced CNC Machinist candidates
