A leading service provider in the defense sector is seeking a CNC Machinist Fabricator in Carterton, Oxfordshire, to join a dedicated workshops team. This role is crucial for ensuring that essential equipment, tools, and components are manufactured safely and accurately to support large-scale, critical operations.

Job Responsibility

  • Execute Precision Machining: Set up and operate CNC machinery, using engineering drawings to ensure accurate programming and calibration
  • Interpret Technical Specifications: Read and analyze technical drawings to produce parts that meet strict quality standards and tolerances
  • Quality Assurance: Carry out routine inspections and measurements of machined parts to verify dimensions using standard industry tools
  • Safety and Compliance: Use all tools and materials handling equipment safely, reporting any engineering deficiencies or health and safety risks to the Workshop Supervisor
  • Drive Efficiency: Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives, helping to enhance the effectiveness of the workshop and the overall working environment
  • Flexible Operations: Work a standard 37-hour week, Monday to Friday, with the potential for a 9-day fortnight and overtime as required

Requirements

  • Proven experience in milling and machining environments
  • NVQ Level 3 in Machining, Milling, or Turning (or equivalent proven experience)
  • Ability to read and follow complex technical drawings and basic mathematical skills for measurements and quality checks
  • A well-organized approach with the ability to work independently or as part of a collaborative team
  • Ability to obtain Baseline Personnel Security Standard (BPSS) and potentially higher-level Security Clearance (SC/CTC)
