The CNC Operator is the direct production and part verification worker, skilled and trained on NC equipment, capable of performing specific production tasks with a minimum of supervision on all NC equipment. The NC Operator is fully familiar with company production and quality control procedures, as well as the equipment used.
Job Responsibility:
Performs production tasks based on production drawings and applicable production and quality procedures and work instructions
Ensures the product is manufactured in accordance with and meets all applicable specifications and customer requirements
Ensures corporate assets and property are actively protected and safeguarded and liabilities and errors are minimized
Plans and requests necessary resources (tooling), based on production schedule and maintains production levels as required by customer orders and production schedule
Ensures production, production area and other equipment is clean and maintained in operating condition and conditions consistent with corporate policies
Identify and report any product deviation or machinery and equipment problems to Operations Group Leader or Operations Manager
Understand and apply GN Corporations Inc. quality system requirements, including customer requirements and legal requirements
Understand and apply GN Corporations Inc. policy for its commitment to quality
Participate actively in training, operational improvement teams, preventative and corrective actions and identifying non-conformities
Understanding, identifying, and applying applicable procedures
Understand and apply GN Corporations Inc. Health and Safety policy as well as be responsible for his/her own health and safety at work
Responsible to avoid adversely affecting the health and safety of others through any act or omission
Responsible for the correct use protective clothing and equipment as provided by GN Corporations Inc. and for guarding against misuse or damage to such equipment
Responsible for reporting any hazardous situations arising in the workplace that cannot be self-corrected, or injury incurred during work, no matter how minor
Responsible for avoiding injury resulting from manual handling tasks associated with his/her employment, by use of risk assessment, correct mechanical handling equipment and appropriate manual handling techniques
Be familiar with all relevant industry standards, recommended practices and regulations
Monitor self-compliance with company, industry, environment, and government requirements as well as promote their acceptance in all aspects of company business
Requirements:
5-7 years of experience setting up and operating CNC machines
Experience in multitasking machines
Experience with 5 or 9 Axis machines
Journeymen Machinist certification with interprovincial Read Seal endorsement is an asset
Working knowledge of the Alberta Occupational Health and Safety (AOH&S) Regulations
Proficient in the fine tuning of the machining parameters
Proficient with reading & interpreting manufacturing drawings, Imperial and Metric dimensioning systems, symbols including: Geometrical tolerances, isometrics, sections views, texture-finishing, limits and fits function
Experience in the inspections and completing records using precision measuring tools, comparators and gauges applicable to the machining trade
Proficient with Math and Geometry from the Machinist trade
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Nice to have:
