Job Description:

The CMT Technician is responsible for carrying out Laboratory and field materials testing of construction materials, including soils, aggregate, concrete and asphalt as mentioned under categories technician level-1 & 2. They're responsible to perform the require test in accordance to standard methods, QMS SOPs and project specification, with properly recording all test data on company standard data forms and submit to the Laboratory Supervisor for analysis and final report. Provide training to juniors and assist supervisor for data reduction.

Job Responsibility:

  • Carry out Laboratory and field materials testing of construction materials, including soils, aggregate, concrete and asphalt
  • Perform the require test in accordance to standard methods, QMS SOPs and project specification, with properly recording all test data on company standard data forms and submit to the Laboratory Supervisor for analysis and final report
  • Provide training to juniors and assist supervisor for data reduction
  • Collect samples to be tested, register, test, store, and dispose of them in accordance with applicable standard laboratory quality procedures
  • Before each test, ensure each equipment is in good working order and calibrations are up to date
  • carry out routine maintenance as well as performance checks, when required
  • Conduct the required tests and record the results accurately
  • Produce test data on standard format worksheets in a precise and timely manner in accordance with standard procedure, and sign the worksheet at the completion of a test
  • Perform test data calculations, plot results and prepare test reports to be checked by the Laboratory Manager/Supervisor
  • After a test, ensure equipment and tools are in good condition, and if not ensure they receive proper attention and rectification
  • keep superior informed and take appropriate actions
  • Perform general housekeeping duties in the laboratory
  • Escalate unusual findings or difficulty in testing new or varied material or problems that cannot be solved at own level, to Branch/Laboratory Manager well in time
  • Attend training sessions on Standard Testing procedures, Quality and keep self-updated and familiar with the Quality Manual
  • Carry out other laboratory/testing/reporting duties as instructed by the Laboratory Manager/Supervisor
  • Technician II is required to give training to juniors

Requirements:

  • Materials laboratory technician -2 Must be qualified to attain competency rating 4~5 in accordance with form QR 09 FSL skills matrix for all mandatory tests mentioned under categories technician level 1 & 2
  • Should have sound knowledge of computers/software
  • Good understanding of HSEMS system
  • Good understanding of QMS system
  • Well familiar with international material testing standards like ASTM, ACI, BS, DIN
  • Ability to learn the techniques quickly with the aid of standard test methods, FSL SOP, work instructions and project specification
  • Competent in handling different equipment, tools and chemicals
  • Accuracy in reading results of tests and recording them correctly
  • Attention to detail to ensure correctness of test data in datasheets and reports, by self-checks
  • Excellent communication skills to understand instructions in writing as well as spoken, and to convey clear messages about problems in testing or test results
  • Produces good quality work
  • Good timekeeping
