Work Arrangement This role is categorized as on-site. This means the successful candidate is expected to report to Advanced Technical Center full time. The Role GM China is looking for a CMF Design Intern . In this role, you will contribute to trend research, CMF concept building, proposal development, and strong visual communication. You will also help move CMF concepts from early mood boards into samples/prototypes and review-ready deliverables. You will work closely with CMF designers, exterior/interior designers, CAS, modeling, and engineering partners across the studio. What you'll do Research automotive, product, and lifestyle color/material/finish trends to provide insights and strategic support for CMF direction. Create mood boards, trend boards, CMF stories, and color & trim proposals , with clear concept narratives and compelling visual presentation. Support the development of CMF concepts into material selection, texture/gloss definition, and sample/color chip management , enabling iteration and refinement. Collaborate with design, engineering, and supplier/process partners to support sample reviews, design reviews, presentations, and day-to-day project execution . Work alongside experienced CMF and design professionals in a global automotive OEM environment, following high-standard design processes and deliverables.
Job Responsibility

Requirements
Student currently pursuing a degree in industrial design, product design, transportation design, materials/textiles, visual design, or related fields
Strong sensitivity and understanding of color, materials, and surface processes (e.g., paint/coatings, plating, texture, soft-touch, textiles/leather), and how CMF supports brand strategy and user experience
Strong visual communication skills, including trend research synthesis, layout, storytelling, rendering/collage, and image editing
Ability to take concepts from ideation to execution, including sampling/prototyping (basic process/manufacturability understanding is a plus)
Good communication, collaboration, and presentation skills
Chinese and English language proficiency is a plus
