Job Description:

CMA position in Cedartown Urgent Care, part-time PRN (as needed) role with varying schedule details. Position involves providing patient care within Medical Assistant scope, performing clinical and administrative tasks, and maintaining a clean and stocked clinical environment.

Job Responsibility:

  • Adheres to Medical Assistant scope of practice
  • Performs rooming/visit tasks such as vital signs, medication reconciliation, medical history, health maintenance, allergy review, and screenings
  • Assists provider with or performs procedures as ordered
  • Performs lab related duties such as venipuncture, specimen collection/labeling/packing, preparation of lab orders/requisitions, and results tracking
  • Completes Clinical Laboratory Improvement Amendments (CLIA) approved waived laboratory tests and practice-specific diagnostic testing
  • Administers medications and vaccines safely
  • Performs other duties as assigned such as medication refills, insurance authorizations, safety/regulatory log completion, patient messaging, medication/supply ordering, appointment scheduling, and referrals
  • Cross trained to perform duties relevant to specialty or clinic practice
  • Demonstrates effective and timely communication, teamwork, and appropriate escalation
  • Maintains a clean work environment ensuring instruments and equipment are cleaned appropriately
  • Ensures equipment and supplies are in working order, and areas are appropriately stocked
  • Must be able to demonstrate knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the patients served

Requirements:

  • High School Diploma or GED required
  • Completion of an accredited Medical Assistant program or structured military training per DD214 (or 2 years verifiable full-time experience as a Medical Assistant within last 5 years for IL/WI/Floyd/Navicent divisions)
  • Current American Heart Association (AHA) BLS certification required (or must obtain within 45 days for IL/WI/Floyd/Navicent)
  • Successful completion of Atrium Health’s competency assessment (for Greater Charlotte/Wake Forest)
  • Ability to perform routine and complex technical skills within Medical Assistant scope
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Proficient computer skills including keyboarding, navigation within a windows OS, and use of electronic mail
  • Demonstrates customer service skills
  • Must sit, stand, walk, lift, squat, bend, twist, crawl, kneel, climb, and reach above shoulders
  • Ability to lift 35 pounds without assistance
  • Must have functional speech, vision, hearing, and touch with ability to use fine-hand manipulation skills

Nice to have:

  • Pediatric Emergency Assessment, Recognition, and Stabilization (PEARS) may be required within 1 year in select areas
  • American Association of Medical Assistants (AAMA), American Medical Technologists (AMT), American Allied Health (AAH), National Healthcare Worker's Association (NHCWA), National Health Career Association (NHA), (MCMA), National Association for Health Professionals (NAHP), National Registry of Medical Assistants (NRMA) certification (for Wake Forest)
