Job Description

Reporting to the Cluster General Manager, the Cluster Director of Finance is responsible for the overall financial management of the Hotels including financial reporting, budget and forecasts preparation, as well as the development and maintenance of adequate internal accounting control policies and procedures to ensure compliance with the generally accepted accounting principles, international and the brand financial reporting standards.

Job Responsibility

  • Review thoroughly all monthly financial statements, management reports, and forecasts
  • Provide ongoing strategic and analytical support constantly to ensure financial goals are met
  • Identify and address opportunities proactively to drive business growth and profitability
  • Manage and coordinate all fiscal reporting activities, including the development and monitoring of annual business plans, budgets, and monthly revenue/expense and balance sheet reports
  • Ensure meticulous adherence to statutory reporting requirements to maintain compliance and transparency
  • Oversee the accurate and timely preparation of monthly and annual financial statements, ensuring they comply with all statutory and brand requirements
  • Ensue all financial reports reflect the true and fair view of the hotels’ financial positions
  • Maintain robust internal controls to manage business risks and safeguard financial assets
  • Review regularly and ensure compliance with all statutory requirements, continuously improving processes to mitigate risks
  • Communicate and collaborate closely with corporate finance teams to ensure strong compliance with accepted accounting principles and policies
  • Train all stakeholders on the adequacy and effectiveness of internal accounting procedures and operating systems and controls
  • Prepare adequately and ensure all financial audits are cleared with all findings resolved timely
  • Ensure a good control environment at all times by proactively addressing any issues requiring corrective actions
  • Maintain open and effective communication with the hotel owner, ensuring they are well-informed of financial performance
  • Monitor banking activities to ensure adequate cash flow for operations and compliance with bank requirements
  • Stay abreast of the global business environment and utilize financial analysis, data trends, and market information to anticipate needs
  • Identify and address operating and financial issues, making informed recommendations to maximize financial returns for the hotels
  • Oversee the execution of all contracts and legal agreements and safeguard the hotels from disadvantageous situations and unfavourable terms through meticulous contract management
  • Proactively supervise the finance team to seek improvements in financial results
  • Implement process streamlining and drive effective cost management, and revenue enhancements with all stakeholders to enhance financial performance
  • Oversee the effective operation and activities of the Purchasing team
  • Responsible for the performance and development of direct report(s) and/or team with effective supervision and coaching where applicable
  • Follow all workplace safety and security policies and procedures. Report accidents, injuries and incidents to security / talent & culture team immediately
  • Participate & contribute actively in all Corporate Social Responsibility and Sustainability initiatives organised by the Hotel
  • Perform any other duties and responsibilities that may be assigned

Requirements

  • Degree in Accountancy / Finance or equivalent
  • Minimum 10 years of relevant experience in a senior managerial appointment in the hospitality industry
  • Strong business acumen, critical thinking and strategic decision-making skills
  • Strong human relations and influencing skills
  • Strong communications (verbal and written), planning and coordination skills
  • Ability to work independently and take initiative
  • Strong time management skills
  • Effective change management skills
  • Eye for detail and highly meticulous
