Job Description:

Optiver is building its Digital Assets trading capabilities and is looking for a Cloud Infrastructure Engineer. This role sits in the Global Cloud Platforms team and will report to the Global Head of Cloud Platforms. You will help build the foundations for a new trading tenancy on Optiver’s existing cloud platform. With a mature hybrid cloud infrastructure already in place, this role allows you to optimize it for the unique operational and performance needs of digital assets trading. Your focus in this role will be on extending our cloud platform to meet the performance demands of a latency-sensitive, always-on trading environment. You’ll be accountable for delivering a secure, performant, and robust infrastructure that directly supports trading outcomes – stability, latency, resilience, and safe change in the digital assets space.

Job Responsibility:

  • Design low-latency infrastructure using cloud primitives and optimized configurations
  • Own and enhance cloud infrastructure performance setups
  • Build and run high-throughput, resilient connectivity patterns for exchange integrations
  • Drive security hygiene both on and off cloud with secrets management, network segmentation and traffic isolation
  • Implement governance and best practices for shared cloud platform ensuring safe multi-tenant operation
  • Deliver infrastructure as code using Terraform and Terragrunt, following Optiver standards and workflows
  • Build and maintain CI/CD and automated testing for changes minimizing risk in always-on markets
  • Implement and enhance observability using CloudWatch, Prometheus, Grafana, and similar tools
  • Participate in operational ownership through incident response, post-incident improvement, and continuous hardening

Requirements:

  • Demonstrated expertise in owning production infrastructure as an engineer (Platform, SRE, or Infrastructure engineering background)
  • Deep cloud infrastructure knowledge, especially around VPC design, compute optimization, and performance networking features
  • Proven ability to write and maintain Terraform modules and operate IaC safely through reviews, testing, and deployment pipelines
  • Solid Linux fundamentals, including networking and systems performance tuning
  • Ability to program in at least one language (e.g., Python or Go) for tooling, automation, and integration work
  • Collaborative skills to work effectively with other team members and stakeholders
  • Ability to communicate technical information to both technical & non-technical stakeholders
  • Ability to gauge business problems and prioritize tasks accordingly

Nice to have:

  • Experience managing multi-cloud (AWS, GCP, AliCloud, etc) infrastructure
  • Experience building & managing latency-sensitive systems in cloud (trading, real-time systems, market data, etc.)
  • Hands-on experience managing WebSocket infrastructure under burst load and unstable upstream conditions
  • Solid understanding of exchange rate limits / quota models (including weight-based limits) and how to engineer systems to respect them without compromising trading performance
  • Familiarity with high-performance networking concepts (e.g., SR-IOV, kernel/network tuning, exposure to RDMA/DPDK is a plus)
What we offer:
  • A performance-based bonus structure, enabling all of our employees to benefit from our global profit pool
  • 27 paid vacation days plus all UK public holidays
  • Daily breakfast and lunch, along with support on commuting expenses
  • Private medical insurance, pension scheme, and ClassPass fitness membership
  • Training and continuous learning opportunities, including access to conferences and tech events
  • International transfer opportunities for global career growth
