The Cloud Infrastructure Administrator will support one of our clients by providing specialist expertise across cloud infrastructure and ICT operations. Working on a time and materials basis over a six-month engagement, this role will focus on administering, automating and optimising Linux-based and containerised environments, with a strong emphasis on Red Hat Enterprise Linux, Kubernetes, and DevOps practices. The role will contribute to the reliability, security and scalability of client’s cloud and on-prem infrastructure, supporting both operational needs and continuous improvement initiatives. NV1 clearance is mandatory. This is a 6 month contract role.
Job Responsibility:
Administer, maintain and support Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL 7/8/9) environments, including installation, configuration, patching and lifecycle management
Deploy, manage and troubleshoot containerised workloads across Kubernetes platforms (including upstream Kubernetes and managed services such as EKS, GKE, AKS or RKE)
Develop and maintain automation using Ansible for system provisioning, configuration management and patching
Build and support CI/CD pipelines, with a focus on Azure DevOps, to automate deployment and operational workflows
Design, build and maintain secure Linux Standard Operating Environments (SOEs) aligned to enterprise and compliance requirements
Implement infrastructure-as-code practices and support cloud landing zone architectures
Perform OS-level and cluster-level troubleshooting, including performance, networking, logging and scaling issues
Apply security hardening, access controls and compliance baselines across Linux, Kubernetes and cloud environments
Collaborate with internal ICT teams and external service providers to support cloud enablement and infrastructure operations
Requirements:
Strong proficiency administering Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL 7/8/9), including system installation, configuration, patching and lifecycle management
Solid understanding of user and group management, permissions, SELinux and operating system hardening
Strong knowledge of systemd, service management and OS-level troubleshooting
Experience using Red Hat Satellite or similar enterprise management tools
Hands-on experience deploying and managing workloads on Kubernetes platforms
Strong understanding of Kubernetes concepts including Pods, Deployments, Services, Ingress, ConfigMaps, Secrets, RBAC and Namespaces
Experience using Helm or similar Kubernetes configuration tools
Knowledge of container runtimes such as Docker and containerd
Proven ability to troubleshoot Kubernetes clusters, networking, performance and scaling issues
Experience using Ansible to automate provisioning, configuration management and patching
Ability to create and maintain Ansible playbooks and roles
Strong scripting skills in Bash
Experience working with CI/CD pipelines, particularly Azure DevOps
Demonstrated ability to automate infrastructure provisioning, deployment and monitoring
Experience designing, building and maintaining Linux Standard Operating Environments in enterprise environments
Ability to create standardised, secure and reproducible RHEL system images
Familiarity with embedding security baselines, hardening standards and compliance controls into SOEs
Understanding of infrastructure-as-code principles and cloud landing zone architectures
Experience with AWS services including IAM, networking and SageMaker Studio
NV1 clearance is mandatory
A valid Vulnerable People / Working with Children Check (WWCC) and Police Check are required
