We are seeking a high calibre Cloud FinOps Automation Engineer to join a large scale government cloud transformation. This role isn’t just about analysing costs, it’s about building the automated "guardrails" that prevent overspend before it happens. You will design, code, and deploy sophisticated automation solutions that enforce financial policy across AWS and Azure environments.
Job Responsibility:
Build and maintain code-based solutions to optimise financial operations using programming languages such as Python, Java, or C++
Design and implement Terraform tagging enforcement and automated compliance scans to ensure all cloud resources are correctly accounted for
Analyse manual financial workflows to identify inefficiencies and replace them with automated, scalable software solutions
Continuously audit the performance and accuracy of automated financial systems to ensure data consistency and rigorous quality assurance
Act as the technical bridge between Finance and IT, ensuring automation goals align with organisational compliance and budgetary objectives
Support and train team members on new financial automation tools and emerging FinOps technologies
Requirements:
Hold a current AGSVA Baseline, NV1, or NV2 security clearance
5–10+ years of experience specifically focused on automated cost compliance and cloud governance
Advanced proficiency in Terraform for developing automation and enforcing resource standards
Strong coding abilities in Python, Java, or C++ to create custom automation tools and audit reports
Deep functional understanding of both AWS and Azure services and their associated billing APIs
Proven experience working within highly structured environments with strict change control and ITIL governance models
Familiarity with data analytics and cloud computing trends
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Finance, or a related field
Nice to have:
Certifications in Cloud (AWS/Azure) or Data Analytics
Significant experience navigating the complexities of government or highly regulated environments
