The Cloud Engineer I designs and develops infrastructure solutions that support cloud implementations and integrate with service providers and connectors, applying principles of IT engineering and secure information processing. Plans and conducts technical tasks associated with the implementation and maintenance of cloud virtualization infrastructure. Provisions resources and monitors cloud solutions as they relate to strategic objectives, collaborating across teams to ensure successful deployments. Cloud engineers also help to ensure that the operationalization of data pipelines and data stores are high-performing, efficient, organized, and reliable, given a set of business requirements and constraints. Identify and troubleshoot operational and data quality issues.
Job Responsibility:
Cloud Infrastructure Setup: Assist in the deployment and configuration of Azure cloud resources according to best practices and project requirements. This includes setting up virtual machines, storage accounts, databases, and networking components. Ensure that deployments follow the company’s standards for naming, tagging, and security configurations
Monitoring & Maintenance: Continuously monitor cloud systems for performance and availability. Use Azure Monitor, dashboards, and alerts to track system health. Troubleshoot basic issues, such as investigating alerts or performance bottlenecks. Perform routine maintenance tasks to keep the environment stable
Automation & Scripting: Develop automation scripts or use existing tools to streamline cloud operations. Utilize PowerShell or Azure CLI scripts to automate repetitive tasks like resource backups, user provisioning, or schedule start/stop of VMs for cost optimization
Security & Compliance: Follow organizational security guidelines when configuring cloud services. Implement basic security measures (e.g., setting up network security groups, Azure Key Vault for secrets) as instructed. Assist in maintaining compliance by collecting logs and evidence for audits and ensure that any changes are documented and reviewed
Collaboration: Analyzes and defines business requirements to determine specifications and standards
proposes and develops solutions. Deploys and oversees implementation and integration of web-based applications, ensuring that appropriate information security standards are met. Maintains reports, logs, or other records of security audits. Monitors system uptime and performance, troubleshooting and resolving errors. Stays informed of emerging cloud technologies and evaluates their value to the organization’s operations
Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field. Equivalent practical experience or cloud certifications preferred
Foundational understanding of data processing languages and tools, including SQL and Python with parallel processing and data architecture patterns
Proficient in using Azure Data Factory, Azure Synapse Analytics, Azure Stream Analytics, Azure Event Hubs, Azure Data Lake Storage, and services required to create data processing solutions
Capable in software design and software documentation, debugging, and problem-solving skills
Detail-oriented and capable of working within a collaborative team environment
Clear written and verbal communication skills
Capable of drafting concise documentation and updating others on task status
Comfortable asking for help and clarifications in a team setting
A collaborative mindset with the willingness to work under the guidance of architects or data scientists
Experience working on group projects is beneficial to demonstrate teamwork
Genuine interest in cloud technologies and eagerness to learn
Shows initiative in expanding skill set and taking on new challenges as skills grow
