Job Responsibility:

  • Assists in maintaining patient and staff safety by monitoring patient and assisting delegated nursing care
  • Incorporates therapeutic and diversionary interventions to maintain patient safety, refocus the patient, and promote healthy behaviors as needed
  • Assists patients with ambulation, hygiene, nutrition, linen changes, and other activities of daily living
  • Identifies potential risks and early signs of escalating patient behaviors, such as agitation, confusion, and anxiety
  • Keeps patient and staff safety at the forefront, engaging the patient in reduction techniques to maintain safety
  • Incorporates problem solving and critical thinking skills to help implement behavioral interventions
  • Other duties as assigned

Requirements:

  • High School diploma required
  • 1 year of experience related to patient care or psychiatric training preferred
  • less than 1 year (six months) of nursing education preferred
  • equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills required
  • Ability to work independently required
  • Innovative with patient care required
  • Flexible in thinking and approach required
