Job Description:

Abridge is looking for Senior/Staff Clinician Scientists to drive the development of our AI-powered clinician documentation tools. The ideal candidate is a Physician with strong technical expertise, blending clinical knowledge with AI and software development skills. In this role, you will help shape AI-driven documentation tools, ensuring our models generate accurate, high-quality medical notes that enhance clinician efficiency and patient care. You’ll work closely with engineers, researchers, and clinicians to refine AI models, validate outputs, and develop new capabilities that improve documentation workflows.

Job Responsibility:

  • Develop and refine AI-driven clinical documentation tools using clinical expertise and prompt engineering.
  • Assess and validate the accuracy of AI-generated medical documentation and provide structured feedback.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams (engineers, data scientists, clinicians) to integrate medical insights into AI models.
  • Write, review, and optimize prompts to improve AI model performance in clinical contexts.
  • Build and refine evaluation tools to streamline medical documentation quality assessment.
  • Apply software engineering, machine learning, and/or NLP skills to improve model development and healthcare applications.
  • Translate clinical needs into technical specifications and data models.
  • Enhance the quality and effectiveness of AI solutions by integrating medical knowledge with machine learning techniques.
  • Contribute to product development, revenue cycle management, and broader business initiatives

Requirements:

  • MD, DO (or equivalent clinical degree) with direct experience working in clinical practice
  • Strong technical experience/background in computer science, software engineering, machine learning, natural language processing, data science, and/or clinical informatics
  • Deep understanding of medical documentation, clinical workflows, and medical terminology
  • Ability to evaluate AI-generated clinical notes, provide structured feedback, and guide improvements
  • Strong knowledge of healthcare data standards (e.g., FHIR, HL7) and privacy regulations (e.g., HIPAA)
  • Hands-on experience in clinical data validation and quality assessment.
  • Experience collaborating with engineers and product teams to build AI-powered clinical tools
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Must be willing to work from our SF office at least 3x per week

Nice to have:

  • Experience in software engineering, particularly in prompt engineering or AI model development
  • Python programming skills and experience with deep learning frameworks such as Pytorch, JAX and/or TensorFlow
  • Previous experience in AI-powered clinical documentation tools or clinical decision support systems
  • Publications in peer-reviewed journals or conferences in the fields of AI, machine learning, or healthcare technology

  • Collaborate with the MPA Dean/Program Director, Medical Director, and the WCU Clinical Operations team to develop, evaluate, and maintain clinical sites and preceptors sufficient in number and quality to meet ARC-PA Standards.
  • Communicate with MPA Dean/Program Director ongoing new site development and needed support to facilitate Program/Preceptor relationships, including support from the Medical Director.
  • Contacts, develops new and maintains established clinical affiliations, assuring all clinical sites meet the program’s prescribed learning outcomes, and securing appropriate contact and specific contractual agreement information including identified preceptors, number and types of placements, renewals, insurance and liability matters, and other pertinent issues important to seamless transition of students to clinical sites.
  • Prepares and submits to MPA Dean/Program Director annual program clinical calendar, individual student clinical placement schedule, and oversees preparation and formal distribution of student clinical placement assignments with detailed site, setting, and discipline-related information on timeline set by MPA Dean/Program Director.
  • Provide leadership, oversight, and performance evaluation for the clinical phase team, as assigned.
  • Develops, maintains, and conducts a schedule for clinical site visitation and presents a written copy to the MPA Dean/Program Director at a specified time each year with updated list of new and renewed affiliation agreements.
