Job Responsibility

Serves as a lead technician in performing, coordinating, and trouble-shooting more advanced duties in the laboratory
Uses advanced knowledge of specimen requirements and stability
Follows appropriate transport/shipping protocols to prepare specimens for transport
Interprets physician's requests and uses the appropriate protocol for handling unique patient registrations and LIS log-ins
Uses advanced knowledge of the laboratory information system to perform functions such as
billing credits, test cancelations, result entries, report printing and printing of task and specimen tracking lists
Receives incoming telephone calls and triages calls to appropriate laboratory as necessary
Manages requests for faxed results and provides specimen requirements and stability information
Provides results to physician offices and health centers as necessary
Trains new and current staff on new procedures

Associate’s degree or some college level course work in science or a related discipline and one year of experience
Or an equivalent combination of education, experience or certification
Customer service experience preferred
Knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy/physiology a plus
