We are offering a Clinical Research Fellow position within the Renal Medicine department at Heartlands Hospital. This post is research post combined with providing ongoing commitment renal and GIM on call rota. It provides an excellent opportunity to work on ongoing renal research projects, suitable for MD or PhD academic development. Our previous fellows have successfully completed their work towards a PhD at the University of Birmingham, and another is finalizing their PhD thesis at the University of Warwick. This fellowship offers structured research training with access to a comprehensive Research & Development (R&D) teaching program. It is ideal for trainees seeking to develop subspecialty research skills as part of out-of-programme research (OOPR). The duration of this position is two years, with a view to extending depending on satisfactory research progress.
Job Responsibility:
Take initiatives in the planning of research
Identify and develop suitable techniques for the collection and analysis of data
Conduct data analysis
Present findings to colleagues and at conferences
Submit publications to peer-reviewed journals
Attend Renal departmental meetings
Contribute to the educational rota
On-call duties in renal and general medicine
Conduct specific research projects: Pilot Study on Blood Pressure Measurement Methods in Dialysis Patients
Assessment of Non-Adherence in Advanced CKD and Dialysis Patients
Pseudo-Randomised Trial of Blood Pressure Control in Haemodialysis Patients
Contribute to grant writing
Requirements:
Medical Degree (e.g MBBS, MB ChB)
Member of the Royal College of Physicians (or equivalent)
ALS
Full GMC Registration
12 months GIM training or equivalent
Nice to have:
Currently Holding NTN in base speciality (ST 4-6)
