An exciting opportunity has arisen for experienced psychologists and social workers who are keen to support children and young people who display sexually harmful behaviour, to join our Safer Connections Service (SCS). The SCS team sits alongside the Therapeutic Emotional Support Service (TESS) delivering consultation, assessment, intervention and support to children and young people who display harmful sexual behaviour between the ages of 7-17 years. The SCS team adopts a multi-agency approach and delivers bespoke and tailored interventions and programmes of education and support to children, young people and their parents and caregivers, regarding harmful sexualised behaviours.
Job Responsibility:
Support children and young people who display sexually harmful behaviour
Deliver consultation, assessment, intervention and support to children and young people who display harmful sexual behaviour
Deliver bespoke and tailored interventions and programmes of education and support to children, young people and their parents and caregivers regarding harmful sexualised behaviours
Work collaboratively with partner agencies
Work directly with children, young people and their families who have experienced significant adversity and traumatic experiences
Requirements:
Clinical or forensic psychology qualification
Senior social worker qualification
Experience and skills in understanding vulnerable children, young people and their families
Experience in supporting them to respond to and manage risk of harmful sexualised behaviour
Experience in formulation, assessing and managing risk
Ability to look beyond behaviour
Experience working with children and young people who have histories of early adversity, social care or youth justice involvement, childhood trauma and or significant attachment disruption (desirable)
Interest in evidence-based practice and research
Must reside within a suitable commutable distance around Birmingham
Must have the correct right-to-work documents to work in the UK (sponsorship not supported)
Nice to have:
Previous experience working with children and young people with presentations relating to harmful sexual behaviour
Experience working with children and young people who have histories of early adversity, social care or youth justice involvement, childhood trauma and or significant attachment disruption
