Position Summary / Department Summary: The mission of the Department of Pharmacy is to provide excellent and innovative pharmaceutical care to patients and the community through safe, collaborative practices that integrate education, research, and technology. Boston Children’s Hospital is seeking a full‑time Pharmacist to join the Pharmacy Informatics team. This 40‑hour position dedicates approximately 32 hours per week to Pharmacy Informatics responsibilities and 8 hours per week to inpatient pharmacy operations staffing, maintaining a strong connection to frontline clinical practice. This role works closely with frontline pharmacy staff, the Inpatient Willow Team, Information Technology, and other hospital partners to support medication‑use systems, optimize workflows, and advance safety‑focused technology initiatives.
Job Responsibility:
Provide inpatient clinical pharmacy services in accordance with departmental and hospital standards
Review, verify, and dispense medication orders for hospitalized pediatric patients
Evaluate medication orders for appropriate drug therapy, dosing, and monitoring
Identify and address potential adverse drug reactions
Support controlled substance distribution, non‑sterile compounding oversight, inventory management, discharge prescriptions, and daily medication supply processes
Verify work performed by pharmacy technicians and interns
Provide supervision and support as needed
Provide drug information and patient education when appropriate
Serve as a clinical informatics pharmacist supporting pharmacy operations and medication‑use workflows within the electronic health record (EHR)
Work directly with frontline pharmacy staff to identify, troubleshoot, and resolve workflow, system, and technology‑related issues
Partner with the Inpatient Willow Team to assess Epic workflow or build issues and recommend optimal clinical solutions
Participate in Epic Willow Inpatient testing, validation, and optimization activities
Collaborate with internal stakeholders (e.g., revenue cycle, billing, Information Services) to support medication‑related billing and charging workflows
Provide support for planned and unplanned system downtimes, including participation in informatics on‑call coverage
Contribute clinical expertise to complex initiatives such as IV workflow optimization and smart IV pump integration and interoperability
Translate clinical workflow needs into clear system requirements and recommendations
Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree in pharmacy required
Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) preferred
Hospital pharmacy experience highly preferred
Experience with pharmacy informatics, medication‑use systems, and workflow optimization preferred
Epic Willow Inpatient certification desired (candidates with significant Epic Willow experience who can obtain certification are encouraged to apply)
Massachusetts Pharmacist License or Massachusetts Pharmacy Intern License required
