Job Description

An excellent opportunity has arisen for a Consultant in Clinical Oncology to join a large, research-active Oncology department in the East of England. The successful candidate will primarily support: Lung Cancers, Central Nervous System (CNS) Cancers. Additional tumour interests may also be accommodated depending on departmental expertise and service requirements. The appointee will join: A team of 19 Oncology Consultants, Specialist lung and CNS oncology services, Dedicated specialist nursing support, A highly collaborative multidisciplinary environment, A modern oncology network with regional partnerships and cross-site working opportunities.

Job Responsibility

  • Participate in Lung and CNS MDTs
  • Deliver systemic anti-cancer therapies (SACT)
  • Support radiotherapy services, including SABR
  • Manage approximately 300 new oncology patients annually
  • Participate in an approximately 1:13 on-call rota
  • Support inpatient oncology and acute oncology services
  • Contribute to clinical governance, audit, appraisal, and risk management
  • Participate in oncology pathway development and service improvement initiatives

Requirements

  • Full GMC Registration with Licence to Practise
  • Entry on GMC Specialist Register via: CCT, CESR, European Community Rights
  • Appropriate higher qualification
  • Minimum 1 year NHS experience
  • Expertise in Lung and CNS Oncology
  • Experience delivering SACT and/or radiotherapy
  • Strong multidisciplinary team working skills
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills
  • Commitment to teaching, service development, and governance
  • Training and expertise in safeguarding
