An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Consultant Clinical Oncologist with specialist interests in Breast and Colorectal cancers to join a well-established Oncology service in the East of England. This Consultant post offers the opportunity to work within an integrated cancer service delivering high-quality multidisciplinary Oncology care, with strong links to regional cancer centres and extensive opportunities in research, teaching, and service development. The successful appointee will act as Lead Oncologist for Breast Clinical Oncology and Colorectal Clinical Oncology, contributing to the ongoing expansion and development of the Oncology service. The role will involve close collaboration with multidisciplinary teams and regional cancer networks to deliver modern evidence-based cancer care across systemic therapy and radiotherapy pathways.
Job Responsibility
Lead and deliver Oncology services for Breast and Colorectal cancers
Participate in multidisciplinary team (MDT) meetings for Oncology patients
Provide clinical leadership in Radiotherapy and Oncology services
Deliver systemic anti-cancer therapies, including chemotherapy, immunotherapy, and targeted therapies
Participate in Acute Oncology Service (AOS) support for inpatients and outpatients
Contribute to clinical governance, audit, and service improvement initiatives
Support ongoing development of evidence-based pathways and clinical protocols
Participate in teaching, education, and supervision of trainees and junior doctors
Contribute to research activity and increase patient recruitment into clinical trials
Participate in Continuing Professional Development (CPD) and appraisal processes
Requirements
MBBS or equivalent medical qualification
MRCP Part 1 and Part 2
FRCR qualification
Full GMC Registration with Licence to Practise
Entry on the GMC Specialist Register or within six months of CCT/CESR
Clinical training equivalent to UK CCT in Clinical Oncology
Extensive experience in chemotherapy prescribing, including E-prescribing
Experience in Acute Oncology
Strong multidisciplinary team working and communication skills
Commitment to teaching, clinical governance, and service development

Postgraduate thesis awarded or pending
Advanced communication skills training
Research and clinical trial experience
Leadership and management interests
Experience contributing to service redesign and quality improvement initiatives
