Reporting to the Practice Manager and General Surgeons, the Clinical Office Coordinator performs a wide variety of responsibilities and support to the physician.
Job Responsibility:
Greet patients upon arrival, maintains orderliness of reception area and Front desk ensuring patient confidentiality
Answer phones and retrieves and distributes messages appropriately
Processes patients quickly and accurately through the computer based scheduling system for future appointments, surgeries and/or testing as appropriate for patient care
Orders necessary office and medical supplies and insures security of all medications
Captures and enters high quality patient demographic and financial information via telephone interviews and hard copy (mail-in, facsimile, etc.)
Identifies insurance coverage and payer requirements for hospital services, processes insurance verification and other basic benefits information for patients, as necessary
Communicates with physicians’ offices and staff in a timely and professional manner
Maintains and supports patient’s rights to care, privacy and respect
Schedules and coordinate surgical procedures with the hospital and the patient
Enters daily and surgical billing charges to Athena
Other duties as assigned from time to time
Requirements:
High School Diploma or equivalent required
One to three years Administrative Assistant/Medical Office preferred
Graduate of a Medical Assistant/Secretary program preferred
Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Office applications and moderate keyboarding is required
Knowledge of GE Centricity to access and utilize electronic medical records preferred
Knowledge of Athena based scheduling/billing software helpful
Strong customer service skills
Excellent organizational skills, detail oriented with strong ability to multi-task required
Familiarity with medical terminology preferred
Ability to read, write, and communicate in English
Knowledge of patient billing, account processes, third party billing and revenue cycle preferred
Ability to maintain confidential information required
Nice to have:
