To provide timely, comprehensive, and evidence-based nutritional care and education to patients with eating disorders and their families, in both an inpatient and outpatient setting. Actively participate in the training of medical staff, dietetic interns, and peers on eating disorder management and related medical nutrition therapy. Ensure best practices by regularly reviewing current literature and updating policies and protocols as warranted. Deliver care in a manner that is highly responsive to the unique psychological and medical needs of eating disorder patients, promoting and supporting the highest quality nutritional care across all levels of treatment.
Job Responsibility:
Provide ongoing nutritional assessment, monitoring, evaluation, and education to patients with eating disorders and their families
Develop and implement individualized nutrition care plans for patients across the lifecycle
Integrate evidence-based research in the education, practice, and management of eating disorder patients
Effectively communicate nutrition plans and rationale to team members
Provide education on medical nutrition therapy for eating disorders
Ensure continuity of care when a patient transitions between levels of care
Deliver lectures to residents, NPs, and fellows
Serve as a clinical preceptor to dietetic interns
Participate in adolescent medicine rounds and interdisciplinary rounds
Serve as liaison between patients/units and foodservice staff
Exercise independent judgment and display advanced decision-making in complex cases
Evaluate literature, new products, and techniques
Participate in quality assurance activities
Serve on committees for department and hospital initiatives
Represent the department at community functions
Requirements:
Bachelor of Science degree in Nutrition, Foods and Nutrition Service or equivalent
completion of one-year dietetic internship experience or equivalent
2 years of clinical nutrition experience in a health care setting
Registered by the Commission on Dietetic Registration
Advanced certification, CNSC, CDCES, CSP or other specialist certification in specific area of practice required within 18 months of hire
