Job Description:

Clinical Nurse Supervisor for Surgical Specialties/ Neurosciences at Advocate Children's Hospital. Oversees 8 departments with 30 direct reports. Responsible for clinical care, patient satisfaction, operations, associate engagement, growth, and physician/provider engagement.

Job Responsibility:

  • Provides support in the delivery of quality clinical care
  • Works closely with healthcare team and physician to assure triage, telephone assessments, home therapies and patient visits are consistent with established guidelines
  • Takes a lead role in assisting the clinical team to meet/exceed CI goals
  • Assists physicians and associates in managing patient registries
  • Ensures monthly office inspection checklist and other required audits are conducted
  • Ensures AMG standing operating procedures are followed
  • Oversees approved site research activities
  • Demonstrates independent problem solving, critical decision making
  • Holds clinical staff accountable to AMG rooming standards
  • Ensures the timely management of EMR tasks, overdue orders, test result follow-up
  • Demonstrates appropriate action and takes a lead role in emergency situations
  • Identifies, evaluates, and resolves potential safety problems
  • Ensures staff adherence to timely and accurate documentation of all patient care services
  • Supports a safe environment for patients and associates
  • Acts as a role model and champion for Culture of Safety
  • Leads site clinical integration activities
  • Collaborates to maintain an environment that is patient centered
  • Monitors data on a monthly basis, reviews with clinical staff, and physicians and jointly develops improvement plans
  • Holds self and others accountable to adherence to AMG Service Standards, Behaviors of Excellence, AIDET and MVP
  • Participates and promotes activities to evaluate and improve processes that will contribute to patient satisfaction
  • Responsible for conveying a professional image

  • Assures all associates maintain certification and all required continuing education units (CEUs)
  • Supports initiatives that enhance practice growth
  • Participates in activities which foster practice growth
  • Promotes same day access and is engaged in volume visit targets
  • Maintains an effective process for inventory control and medication supply utilization
  • Proactively manages staff schedules to minimize use of overtime, temporary staff, and registry
  • Works in collaboration with practice site manager to achieve revenue and cost targets
  • Maximizes team efficiency
  • Assists in the creation and maintenance of an operationally efficient and physician/provider friendly work environment
  • Provides support to the onboarding of new physicians/providers
  • Rounds with physicians/providers daily
  • Engages physicians/providers in improving processes, workflow and EMR related concerns
  • Assists physicians/providers on issues related to patient care and safety
  • Reviews physician/providers satisfaction results
  • Fulfills additional job-related duties based on operational needs
  • Actively participates in meetings, committees and projects
  • Keeps abreast of current clinical standards
  • Participates in activities to enhance professional growth
  • Maintains licensure and completes required CEUs
  • Performs clinical duties as determined by the needs of the practice site(s).

Requirements:

  • Graduate from accredited school of nursing
  • 5+ years of nursing experience
  • BSN preferred
  • Leadership experience preferred
  • Pediatric clinic experience preferred
  • Knowledge of OSHA, FMLA, ADA, DOT regulations, CDC guidelines, Workman’s Comp Laws if applicable
  • Good communication skills
  • Proficient with keyboard and computers
  • Good time management and organizational skills
  • Current RN Licensure in State of Illinois
  • Current CPR certification
  • Ability to work varying shifts any day of the week to meet needs of the site
  • Ability to work under stressful conditions and difficult situations
  • Ability to perform lifting/transfer activities relating to patient as needed, ability to stoop/bend
  • Able to respond quickly to patient needs and work at a fast pace
  • Work environment includes probability of exposure to adverse, hazardous materials while caring for the sick
  • Ability to assist in the evacuation of patients in the event of fire or other disaster
  • Routinely works with potentially infectious specimens and patients
  • This position will recognize needs and behaviors of a variety of patient age groups
  • i.e. understand child growth and development, normal pattern of adolescent behavior and look for normal signs of aging
  • Ability to travel to Advocate locations.
