Job Description

Clinical Nurse Manager 1 - Abraham Colles Unit (Surgical Ward) at Blackrock Health Blackrock Clinic. Permanent Full-Time position. Role involves leadership and support in a 35-bed unit. Responsibilities include managing clinical practice, nursing personnel, education, and unit operations.

Job Responsibility

  • To provide leadership and support in the Abraham Colles Unit
  • Assist the CNM2 to manage, plan, organise and co-ordinate all services relating to both direct and indirect care
  • Direct and implement all health and safety and quality standards
  • Assume responsibility for quality patient care delivery
  • Assist nursing personnel in assessing individual patient needs and formulation of a plan of nursing care
  • Set standards of nursing practice and communicate these standards
  • Evaluate nursing care given to patients
  • Function as a change agent
  • Collaborate with other healthcare providers
  • Supervise and evaluate the level of patient care
  • Provide an atmosphere conducive to learning
  • Direct orientation of new staff
  • Initiate or assist with planning, presenting and evaluating continuing education programs
  • Guide and assist staff with patient and family teaching
  • Liaise with Clinical Nurse Specialist, Nurse practice development and CNM2
  • Schedule unit personnel
  • Allocate nursing and support staff
  • Participate in recruitment and selection
  • Manage human resources and productivity
  • Assess and identify training and development needs for nursing staff
  • Identify teaching and learning opportunities
  • Ensure student nurse educational requirements are met
  • Assume responsibility for identifying own educational needs
  • Set annual goals and objectives with CNM2
