Job Description:

The Clinical Nurse Coordinator (CNC) provides clinical and administrative supervision of all functions in the unit/department during the designated shift, serves as a resource person for staff ensures, and delivers high quality, patient-centered care. In collaboration with the multidisciplinary team, the CNC directs, monitors, and evaluates patient care, under the direction of nursing leadership.

Job Responsibility:

  • Provides oversight of patient care and safety, patient, and family advocacy, and demonstrated expertise of the seclusion and restraint process
  • Meet with patients and/or staff when patient is experiencing compliance struggles
  • Monitors staff to ensure, efficient, safe, and productive work environment which includes delegation of staff assignments
  • Provides necessary staff coaching and support, under the direction of nursing leadership
  • Oversees orientation of new employees, providing direction and coaching as needed
  • Assists with admission and discharge processes to ensure efficient throughput and high quality, patient-centered care
  • Participates in the ongoing assessment of the quality of patient care services provided in the unit, in collaboration with other members of the multidisciplinary team
  • Identifies and implements program revisions and appropriate unit metrics based upon patient and staff feedback as well as Performance Improvement metrics
  • Supports the efforts of the facility to improve engagement by operationalizing current nursing strategies, including rounding, incident reporting, and other initiatives
  • Assists with staff scheduling
  • Manages all practical aspects of staff labor in accordance with patient care needs and established productivity guidelines
  • Supports proper inventory control and assists with managing supplies and equipment

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in nursing, (BSN) preferred
  • Registered nurse licensed by State Board of Nursing in the state of employment
  • Psychiatric-Mental Health Nursing Certification (PMH-BC) preferred
  • Two (2) years of experience as an RN within behavioral health preferred
  • Previous experience working as a team lead, preceptor, or trainer preferred
  • American Heart Association Healthcare Provider CPR certification is required within thirty (30) days of date-of-hire
  • Formal training in management of the aggressive patient within sixty (60) days of date-of-hire
