Job Description

A well-regarded full-service law firm is seeking a Clinical Negligence Solicitor (1–5 years’ PQE) to join its Birmingham-based defendant clinical negligence team. This is an excellent opportunity to act for NHS bodies, insurers, and other defendant organisations, working on a varied caseload of pre-action and litigated clinical negligence matters. You will be part of a collaborative and supportive team known for its technical strength, pragmatic approach, and commitment to high-quality client service. The firm offers a structured environment with strong supervision, clear progression routes, and exposure to complex, high-value claims.

Job Responsibility

  • Managing a caseload of defendant clinical negligence matters from inception through to resolution
  • Drafting statements of case, witness statements, and expert instructions
  • Advising clients on liability, causation, quantum, and strategy
  • Handling claims under the Pre-Action Protocol for the Resolution of Clinical Disputes
  • Liaising with counsel, medical experts, and client stakeholders
  • Supporting senior lawyers on complex and high-value matters as required

Requirements

  • Qualified Solicitor with 1–5 years’ PQE in clinical negligence or related defendant personal injury work
  • Strong understanding of civil procedure and pre-action protocols
  • Excellent drafting, analytical, and case management skills
  • Commercially minded with a calm, pragmatic approach to dispute resolution
  • Confident communicator who works well with clients and colleagues alike
