Kids Helpline is looking for Clinical Moderators in our My Circle online peer to peer support program. Online moderated peer to peer support is the new frontier for mental health because it responds to the changing habits of teens who are increasingly using social media to connect. My Circle is a free, anonymous and private social networking space to support groups of young people aged 12-25 who are experiencing similar problems, under the guidance of a qualified Moderator. This is a part-time position (minimum 48 hours per fortnight), working a set roster across 24/7 operational hours. To support team connection, you’ll be required to work a Wednesday day shift every alternate fortnight. This intake of Clinical Moderators will commence on 16 March 2026, and you must be available for full time, paid training 16 March to 20 March 2026 (business hours).
Job Responsibility:
Working closely and collaboratively with co-moderators in a fast-paced, highly communicative team culture
Deliver clinical moderation services across a range of platforms and services, including but not limited to youth, adults and parents
Checking member activity on My Circle, replying to comments, posts and messages
Recognise and respond to emerging service user safety concerns and engage in safety planning and interventions effectively to ensure the safeguarding of children and young people
Identifying, editing and removing content, comments or posts that violate Community Guidelines
Sending follow up messages to community members
Flagging platform issues and member conduct, or counselling related issues for Supervisors to address
Creating and posting content and cross-posting content from Kids Helpline social media to provide information, education and resources relevant to the circle
Requirements:
completion of a relevant bachelor’s degree in psychology, social work, counselling or equivalent
ability to work a range of shifts in a 24/7 environment, including evenings and weekends as rostered, and be flexible and resilient to manage within a shift work environment
demonstrated understanding of social, cognitive, developmental and mental health issues confronting children, young people and their families
knowledge of, or ability to rapidly acquire, group development skills and an understanding of group dynamics
demonstrated computer literacy skills and knowledge of how social media environments operate and skills in interacting with people online via common interfaces
