The Illinois Department of Public Health is seeking a highly motivated individual to perform the duties as Clinical Laboratory Technician 1. Under direct supervision of the lab manager, receives and documents receipt of commodities in inventory tracking system, becomes proficient in shipping supplies and specimens, assists laboratory staff with maintenance, calibrations, answering telephone calls, accessioning specimens, and performs low complexity and non-CLIA laboratory testing.
Job Responsibility:
Verifies proper receipt and distribution of laboratory supplies including reagents and other consumables
Receives training and becomes proficient in Category A and Category B packaging and shipping procedures and routine shipment of supplies
Performs instrument maintenance and calibration procedures throughout the lab
Assists lab staff answering phone calls, receiving and reviewing specimen submission forms, and contacts providers regarding sample submission issues
Receives clinical and environmental samples and distributes for testing
Assist lab staff by performing low complexity and non-CLIA laboratory testing as needed
Performs other duties as required or assigned which are reasonably within the scope of the duties enumerated above.
Requirements:
Requires education and experience equivalent to an Associate’s Degree with courses in the laboratory sciences, supplemented by one (1) year’s laboratory experience.
