A minimum of 2 years of CLS experience preferred
Must have a current State of California license or temporary license as a Clinical Laboratory Scientist and ASCP or equivalent

Job Responsibility

Performance of all test procedures in the assigned section
Must be able to work in all areas of the Core Lab (Chemistry, Coag/UA, and Hematology) or Blood Bank and Microbiology or all sections of the laboratory
Perform duties accurately, efficiently and independently
Initiate QC failure corrective action
Participate in inventory control
Perform instrument preventive maintenance
Troubleshoot instrument and reagent problems

HCPC-registered Biomedical Scientist (Microbiology discipline)
Demonstrable post-registration experience in a UKAS-accredited Microbiology laboratory
Strong technical skills in clinical bacteriology, virology, or related disciplines
Experience using LIMS systems and handling sensitive patient data

Job Responsibility

Conduct routine and specialist diagnostic microbiology tests, including bacteriology, virology, parasitology, and mycology
Process a wide variety of clinical samples accurately and efficiently
Operate and maintain a range of microbiological laboratory equipment after competency training
Participate actively in internal and external quality assurance schemes
Support stock control, equipment evaluations, and method development initiatives
Adhere to laboratory policies, procedures, and UKAS accreditation requirements
Work collaboratively with senior biomedical scientists and multidisciplinary teams

Must have a current Clinical Laboratory Scientist (CLS) or appropriate sub-specialty license issued by the State of California, Department of Public Health
