Job Description:

The Clinical Lab Scientist II performs a range of standard and/or technically demanding procedures in one or more of the Clinical Laboratory disciplines exercising initiative and independent judgment. Communicates technical or general information to their manager, director, & medical staff. May provide instruction in the basic theory, technical skills and applications of laboratory test procedures. Provides expertise and serves as a technical resource for Technicians. The CLS II functions as a licensed staff member performing duties approved by California Business and Professions Code, CLIA and other regulatory agencies.

Job Responsibility:

Requirements:

  • 2 to 5 years of relevant clinical experience with at least 1 year in the area of specialty required
  • Bachelor’s degree meeting California Department of Public Health (CDPH) Laboratory Field Services academic requirements
  • Active California Clinical Laboratory Scientist (CLS) License
  • Or acceptable Limited California Licenses in specialty areas: Clinical Chemist Scientist License, Clinical Cytogeneticist Scientist License, Clinical Genetic Molecular Biologist Scientist License, Clinical Hematologist Scientist License, Clinical Histocompatibility Scientist License, Clinical Immunohematologist Scientist License, Clinical Microbiologist Scientist License
  • ASCP Board of Registry certification as Medical Technologist, or other specialty preferred
