Western Health’s Mental Health and Wellbeing Service is growing, with new programs and service development across Melbourne’s western corridor. We are seeking an experienced clinician to join our team as a Mental Health Educator, supporting workforce capability across our community mental health services. This is a supernumerary education role based within the Outer Community Team in Melton. The position focuses on developing the skills and confidence of clinicians through education, mentoring and supervision. The role does not carry a clinical caseload. You will work with a multidisciplinary workforce including nurses, social workers, occupational therapists and other allied health clinicians to strengthen clinical capability and support recovery-oriented practice across community mental health settings.
Job Responsibility:
Delivering education and training to multidisciplinary community mental health teams
Providing on-site coaching, mentoring and clinical support to clinicians
Supporting staff transitioning into community mental health practice
Providing formal and informal clinical supervision
Assisting clinicians with clinical decision-making, assessment, risk formulation and care planning
Working with team leaders and managers to identify learning needs and coordinate training opportunities
Supporting service-wide workforce development initiatives
Promoting evidence-based, recovery-oriented practice across community services
Requirements:
Registration with AHPRA as a Registered Psychiatric Nurse, Occupational Therapist, or eligibility for membership with the Australian Association of Social Workers
Minimum 5 years’ experience as a Registered Psychiatric Nurse or 7 years’ experience as an Allied Health clinician
At least 2 years’ experience working in community mental health
Demonstrated experience in clinical supervision, mentoring or education of staff
Strong communication and organisational skills
Commitment to recovery-oriented and person-centred practice
Current Victorian Driver Licence
Nice to have:
Certificate IV in Training and Assessment
Experience working within public community mental health services
