Job Description

The Iowa Primary Care Association is actively recruiting a Family Medicine NP or PA to serve as Clinical Director at our unique Migrant Farmworker Program in Des Moines. Farmworkers perform difficult labor and are in the fields from early morning until late evening, sometimes seven days a week. Such a schedule does not facilitate access to health care services. There are also language barriers and transportation issues. Health care clinics are scheduled in locations where farmworkers are working and living, during the hours when workers are available for services. In these locations, workers receive vital exams such as blood pressure, temperature, height and weight, and blood profiling to check for anemia, cholesterol, and diabetes. All patients are able to have a complete physical exam.

Job Responsibility

  • Sees on average 18 patients per day
  • Provider will see basic primary care at brick and mortar clinics and mobile clinic sites to a primarily adult patient population
  • May occasionally be asked to cover clinic hours in Iowa City & Fort Dodge region as needed with work vehicle and travel hours available

Requirements

  • Licensed Nurse Practitioner in the state of Iowa
  • Licensed Physician Assistant in the state of Iowa
  • Bilingual with Spanish strongly desired
