The Medical Intensive Care Unit (MICU) at Boston Children’s Hospital is a 22-bed facility dedicated to the care of children with a wide range of critical illness diagnoses including respiratory failure (severe breathing problems), sepsis (serious infection), nutritional failure, poisoning, congenital anomalies, and life-threatening complications of metabolic diseases and endocrine disorders. The Clinical Assistant role provides the opportunity to practice in a family centered environment.
Job Responsibility:
Help provide basic bedside nursing care for complex pediatric patients under supervision of registered nurse
In collaboration with registered nurse, may be responsible for obtaining vital signs, performing EKGs, and oxygen saturation measurements
Identify and report unusual findings or changes in patient condition to registered nurse
Transporting patients
Stocking of supplies and equipment as needed
Requirements:
HS Diploma or equivalent
1-year CA experience, CNA certification, or Nursing Student with at least one clinical rotation
Ability to exchange information on factual matters, schedule appointments, greet visitors, explain hospital policies and relay messages
Courtesy and tact when dealing with patients, visitors and/or hospital employees
Good communication skills
Ability to work on a team
CNA certification (or 1-year CA experience & Nursing Student with at least one clinical rotation)
