The Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU), in the Division of Newborn Medicine, is a Level III/IV, 30-bed referral center for critically ill infants requiring complex medical and surgical care. Highly specialized physicians, nurses, and support staff collaborate in the care of critically ill infants and their families. A team from multiple specialties within the hospital provides advanced therapies and family centered care for infants from around the region and the world. We work closely with the Maternal Fetal Care Center to coordinate both prenatal consultation and postnatal intensive care for infants with a wide range of prenatally diagnosed conditions. Neonatology attendings, fellows, pediatric surgical residents, and either neonatal nurse practitioners or pediatrician hospitalists are available on the unit 24 hours a day.
Job Responsibility:
Under the supervision of the registered nurse the Clinical Assistant will help provide basic bedside nursing care for complex neonatal and pediatric patients
In collaboration with the registered nurse, you may be responsible for obtaining vital signs, performing EKGs, and oxygen saturation measurements, while identifying and reporting unusual findings or changes in patient condition to the registered nurse
Transporting patients, stocking of supplies and equipment as needed
The Clinical Assistant role provides the opportunity to practice in a family centered environment
Ability to work 1 shift per week, this includes weekends, holidays both AM and PM shifts
Requirements:
A HS Diploma or equivalent
1-year CA experience, CNA certification, or Nursing Student with at least one clinical rotation
The ability to: exchange information on factual matters, schedule appointments, greet visitors, explain hospital policies and relay messages to appropriate personnel
Good communication skills
The ability to work on a team
CNA certification ( or 1-year CA experience & Nursing Student with at least one clinical rotation)
