Knowledge of medical terminology
Ability to perform phlebotomy functions and EKGs
1+ year working with the frail and elderly

Job Responsibility

Assists in prioritizing the scheduling of participants by consulting with medical staff, daily, to manage the participant flow
Takes the vital signs of participants and performs the collection of specimens including phlebotomy, finger sticks, and pulse oximetry tests as requested by medical staff. Reports abnormal findings and changes to Registered Nurse/Provider
Ensures that all lab specimens are labeled and ready for the courier to pick up in a timely manner
Prepares participants to be seen in the clinic by assisting them in disrobing and positioning participants in beds, chairs, or exam tables. Ensures that participants are ready to be seen by nurses and providers in an appropriate state
Assists providers and nurses with medical procedures and treatments that they have been trained and completed competencies on
Assists in the preparation and dispensing of medications, inhalers, eye drops, injections, etc., to participants, depending on qualifications and site requirements
Schedules necessary appointments and lab draws for participants for the clinic for internal and external specialists and appointments when requested
Educates participants and notifies them of lab results as assigned
Complies with all regulatory and policy and procedure guidelines
Maintains exam rooms for necessary supplies, materials, and cleanliness. Ensures that exam rooms are always well-stocked managing inventory of clinic supplies and puts needed supplies on the re-order list

May “pend” orders which include laboratory testing and radiology studies for provider sign-off
Documents, in the electronic medical record, medical visits/procedures performed by healthcare providers in accordance with established procedures
Enters data such as: patient medical history/physical exam results, patient education/explanation of benefits/risks, provider-dictated diagnoses, prescriptions and instructions for patient/family relating to self-care and follow-up, and prepared referral letters as directed by the provider
Reviews medical documentation to validate information and to identify inconsistencies/errors and facilitate overall accuracy of the medical record in accordance with established procedures/requirements
Reviews clinical data, lab and/or other test results and the interpretation of the test results by the provider
