Job Description

The Bookkeeper will play a vital role in supporting the firm’s tax, audit, and advisory teams by delivering accurate, timely, and organized bookkeeping services to our clients. This role involves handling payroll processing, tax filings, financial reporting, and client accounting software setup and training. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, self-motivated, and able to manage multiple client accounts efficiently.

Job Responsibility

  • Process payrolls, including preparation of tax deposits and liability payments
  • Prepare sales and use tax returns and ensure timely filing
  • Review and reconcile client-maintained books for accuracy and completeness
  • Prepare accurate financial statements for clients in various industries
  • Perform data entry and routine bookkeeping duties for multiple client accounts
  • Prepare and file W-2s, 1099s, and related year-end forms
  • Set up and provide client training for accounting software (primarily QuickBooks)
  • Assist clients with self-prepared payroll and tax filings, offering guidance as needed
  • Handle special client tasks such as unclaimed property filings, business license renewals, etc.

Requirements

  • 1+ years of bookkeeping or related accounting experience (public accounting preferred)
  • Proficient in QuickBooks (Online and Desktop)
  • Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Excel and Word
  • Understanding of payroll processing and tax compliance
  • High attention to detail and accuracy in data entry and reconciliation
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and meet multiple deadlines in a fast-paced environment

Nice to have

  • Experience working in a public accounting firm or with multiple clients simultaneously (preferred but not required)
  • Experience with payroll platforms and filing systems (e.g., ADP, Gusto, Paychex)
  • Familiarity with tax filing software and portals
