Job Description

Hyde is looking to recruit a Clearance Operative to join our Property Services team. Hyde is one of the UK’s leading and award-winning providers of affordable homes across London, the South-East, and surrounding areas. We own and manage 125,000 homes and are driven by a strong social purpose—creating safe, affordable homes and thriving communities. As a Clearance Operative, you’ll be supporting property maintenance by carrying out a range of clearance tasks. This includes house and garden clearances, fly-tip removals, gutter cleaning, and basic void works to help get properties ready for re-letting.

Job Responsibility

  • Clear vacant properties and communal areas of rubbish, furniture, non-approved fittings, and fly-tipped materials
  • Tidy and clear gardens, removing debris, overgrowth, and hazards
  • Remove waste safely and transport to approved disposal sites using a company vehicle
  • Carry out needle sweeps and undertake minor demolition works (e.g., kitchen/bathroom removal, wallpaper stripping)
  • Maintain tools, complete daily work records, and report progress
  • Engage respectfully with customers and support service improvement efforts

Requirements

  • Full UK Driving Licence (essential)
  • Previous experience in house and garden clearances, waste removal, or grounds maintenance
  • Physically fit and comfortable working in varied property conditions
  • Strong understanding of health and safety, particularly in void or environmental work
  • Able to work independently and manage your own workload

  • Inspect and change out batteries on the powered industrial truck (if required)
  • Keep the truck unloader continuously supplied with trucks to be unloaded
  • Operate and maintain automated packaging equipment and ensure the carton erector is continuously supplied as indicated on the Bill of Material (BOM)
  • Visually inspect each bag for defects, ensure proper orientation and categorize and log any defects identified
  • Manually unload trucks and package bags when necessary
  • Unpackage product and reinspect when necessary
  • Assist in performing line clearance
  • Notify the supervisor and take appropriate action if any safety, quality, mechanical or discrepancy issues occur
  • Sustain a clean and safe work area using 6S principles
