Job Description:

Are you passionate about supporting young people and helping them reach their full potential? We are looking for motivated Teaching Assistants to join our team, working within various secondary schools across Plymouth. Whether you are an aspiring teacher, a psychology graduate, or someone with a background in youth work, these roles offer a fantastic opportunity to make a real difference in the lives of local students.

Job Responsibility:

  • Providing 1:1 or small group support to students who need extra help
  • Assisting the class teacher with lesson preparation and classroom management
  • Helping to create an inclusive and encouraging learning environment
  • Supporting students with their literacy, numeracy, and social skills

Requirements:

  • Supportive Mindset: A genuine desire to assist students with diverse learning needs, including SEND or SEMH
  • ECTs & Graduates Welcome: This is an excellent way for Early Career Teachers to gain varied experience or for graduates to build a portfolio before applying for teacher training
  • Strong Communication: The ability to explain tasks clearly and build rapport with students aged 11-16
  • Proactive Attitude: Someone who can spot where help is needed and take initiative within the classroom
